So, why call a restaurant "The Warehouse of Ajijic" ? Because that´s what La Bodega was when it first opened in February of 1998, a wide variety of local arts and crafts for sale. To make the shopping experience in the "warehouse" a warm and pleasant one, Martha and Javier Gonzalez wanted to create an atmosphere that embodied the spirit of the Mexican way of living; "mi casa es tu casa", what better way than though the offering of refreshments? So the little "warehouse" became an arts and crafts/cafe. It didn´t take long before people came to linger to enjoy the tranquility of a traditional family setting so adding more food to the menu and extending from lunch to dinner was an obvious next step... and a restaurant was born.
